Uses:


  • Is used as a stopper knot. Use this when you need to make a section of rope chunky so it doesn't slide or is easier to grab onto

Advantages:


  • Best knot for stopping a rope from going through a loop.
  • Can be made as large a necessary by adding additional turns within the loop.
  • Probably the fastest and easiest of all the climbing knots.
  • Strong even under wet, dry and frozen conditions.

Disadvantages:


  • Difficult to untie.
  • Can jam badly.
