Form an overhand knot in the end of the webbing, making sure the webbibg is arrangedto allow the knot to lie flat if pressed.

Slide the second end of webbing into the first overhand knot, as if your tracing the knot. Startat the point where the first end of the webbing leaves the first overhand knot, as shown.

Continue to follow the lead of the first piece of webbingthrough the overhand knot with the second webbing, making sure both ends of webbing lie flat against each other.

When both ends of webbing have been woven into one overhand knot, tighten it by pulling on the working ends of the webbing. Before trusting the knot to stopa fall, load it with body weightto set it as tight as possible.

Uses:

Safely secures webbing, belts and straps together, particularly for joining slings when climbing and caving.

Advantages:

Can be used to join ropes, for which the knot is very secure.

Disadvantages:

Almost impossible to untie if wet and tight.
When tying, the webbing should not be twisted; their surfaces should be kept flat against one another for maximum friction.
