Figure 8 Follow Through

Tie a figure 8 knot in the working end of the rope (about 2-3 feet from the working end).

With the working end, begin to trace, or follow the lead of the first figure 8 knot, as shown.

Continue to follow the lead of the figure 8.

The working end needs tocome out of the knot in line with the standingpart, as shown.

Uses:

This knot allows the Figure 8 loop to be tied to a ring, a carabiner, or a harness.

Advantages:

Simple and reliable
Easy to remember, tie, and check.

Disadvantages:

Can be difficult to untie under heavy load.
