Timber Hitch

Pass the working end around the object to be moved and then behind and around the standing part.

Twist the working end around itself (not around the standing part) at least three time. The number of twist v=can be increased to boost the grip of the knot, depending on the size and weight of the object. Tighten by pulling on the standing part.

Also know as: Bowyer's Knot

Uses:

To attach a single length of rope to a cylindrical object. Often used by lumbermen and arborists for attaching ropes to tree trunks, branches, and logs.

Advantages:

When load ie released, the knot falls loose.

Disadvantages:

Can roll, to prevenbt this add a Half Hitch over the end.
Slack in the rope and erratic pulling on the rope can loosen this knot.
