Timber Hitch


Also know as: Bowyer's Knot


Uses:


  • To attach a single length of rope to a cylindrical object. Often used by lumbermen and arborists for attaching ropes to tree trunks, branches, and logs.

Advantages:


  • When load ie released, the knot falls loose.

Disadvantages:


  • Can roll, to prevenbt this add a Half Hitch over the end.
  • Slack in the rope and erratic pulling on the rope can loosen this knot.
